Presentación del Director:
Siempre estuve interesado en el uso de la voz en off como una forma de sumergirse en el mundo interior de los personajes. Como una forma de llegar a ese universo propio que son las acciones de los personaje cuando están en soledad. Investigando las voces interiores de tres personajes muy diferentes, me permití contar esta historia particular de una cultura (que he visitado hace un tiempo atrás) para hacer mi primer cortometraje. Indagando en artículos periodísticos y entrevistas pude enterarme de la problemática de los numeroso suicidios y como eso afecta el funcionamiento de su vasta red de transporte. Me gustó la idea de armar una historia con esos elementos. Como así también el adentrarse a través de esa grieta que se abre cuando dos personas extrañas pueden conectar con su mirada, dentro del mar de indiferencia y ensimismamiento que cubre la ciudad ( siendo Tokio como cualquier otro lugar), donde mirarse a los ojos suele ser cada vez mas extraño.
Director's Statement:
I've always been interested in the use of the voice-over as a way to immerse oneself into the inner world of the characters. As a way to get to that own universe of the actions of the people when they are in solitude. Investigating the inner voices of three very different characters, I allowed myself to tell this little story. The suicides on the trains were a particular subject that really caught me when I visited Tokyo some years ago. Researching in articles and interviews I could learn about the problematic of the several suicides and how that affects the running of their vast transport system. I liked the idea of assembling a story with those elements. And I also liked it as a way of breaking through within the fissure that get opened when two strange persons can connect with their look inside the sea of indifference and isolation that covers the city. So in Tokyo, as in every other place.
